Overview
Responsible for the assessment, planning, delivery and evaluation of individualised patient care, working in partnership with patients, their carers and the multi-disciplinary team to ensure the patient's physical, spiritual and emotional needs are met.
We are looking for Registered nurses to join our friendly and talented team on a fixed term contract. This post should appeal to enthusiastic and motivated individuals who strive to deliver high quality emergency care to patients, and wish to be part of a busy and dynamic nursing team in the Emergency Department at The Royal Shrewsbury Hospital (RSH).
This is a demanding role that requires commitment and a positive attitude towards change. With emergency care ever changing and evolving, this is an exciting opportunity to be involved in providing health care services to our patients whilst striving to deliver high standard of nursing care in the department.
You will need to have excellent communication skills and high clinical standards with a passion to make a difference for patients and the team alike. We offer a high level of support in the department for new starters, along with a structured induction presented and delivered by the Professional Educational Nursing team within the department, which will help to develop your skills and teach you the knowledge you will need to succeed.

Responsibilities
* Assess, plan, deliver and evaluate individualised patient care in partnership with patients, carers and the multi-disciplinary team to meet physical, spiritual and emotional needs.
* Formulate and deliver high quality patient care with supervision.
* Recognise changes in patients' conditions which require intervention by others and ensure timely referrals or escalation procedures are enacted as appropriate.
* Ensure patient safety is maintained at all times; record and report adverse or potentially adverse events and assist with investigations, ensuring learning is shared with the wider team(s).
* Record information about patients accurately and consistently using appropriate tools and techniques, including electronic and written formats at the point of care.
* Access and use patient clinical diagnostic information to inform clinical decisions.
* Utilise decision support tools and techniques to support the delivery of safe and effective care.
* Make appropriate and timely referrals to members of the multi-disciplinary team and external agencies to meet ongoing physical, spiritual, emotional and social needs.
* Administer medicines to patients in accordance with the Nursing & Midwifery Council (NMC) Standards for Medicines Management and Trust policy.
Qualifications
* Registered nurse with current NMC registration.
* Commitment to high standards of patient care and ongoing professional development.
