Role Purpose:
This role involves managing and executing the full lifecycle of test engineering, from defining test cases to developing test tools and managing testing facilities. It requires broad engineering knowledge, creativity, and initiative. The position is available as either a full-time permanent role or a contract, depending on your preference.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Analyze conformance specifications to derive test requirements.
2. Plan, design, and communicate test cases validating requirements across electro-mechanical systems for development and production phases.
3. Design test jigs, harnesses, and software, including automation where appropriate.
4. Implement data processing/filtering software to extract relevant results.
5. Manage internal test facilities such as test tanks, ovens, pools, and lifting equipment.
6. Liaise with external test facilities (EMC, vibration, pools, etc.).
7. Execute tests safely, clearly, and in a controlled manner.
8. Conduct fault finding and failure analysis.
9. Document and present results and findings comprehensively.
Essential Skills:
* HNC or Degree in a relevant engineering discipline.
* At least 3 years in a test-focused role or in test equipment development.
* Proven experience in data capture and analysis.
* Experience working on multi-disciplinary systems (electrical, mechanical, software).
* Experience within an engineering NPI environment.
* Excellent knowledge of test equipment and platforms.
* Strong communication skills, both written and verbal.
* Exposure to NPI design phases, working with design/system requirements.
* Ability to generate test cases from requirements to verify/validate designs.
* Experience with National Instruments test software platforms and creating test functions within NI environments.
* Hands-on experience with electronic circuit construction, testing, and diagnostics.
* Innovative mindset grounded in sound engineering principles.
* Ability to work independently under tight deadlines.
* Knowledge of product certification standards and industry best practices.
* Enthusiasm, drive, and personality.
* Ability to create high-quality test reports and logs.
Desirable Skills:
* Experience in the offshore and/or subsea industry.
* Experience working within a production test facility.
* Knowledge of creating test executives in NI LabView/TestStand.
* Proficiency in programming or scripting (Python, C, C#, C++, VB, etc.).
* Experience with testing equipment design, commissioning, and support.
* Understanding of mechanical principles and applications.
* Knowledge of compliance standards and certifications (CE/DNV).
* Previous customer-facing experience.
