Overview
You will be joining a very modern boutique law firm as their Senior Legal Cashier on a full-time, permanent basis. This is a newly created role as the firm is bringing their Cashiering function in-house for the first time. You will be part of a close-knit team of 5 in finance, reporting directly to the Head of Finance with support from the CFO. Based in their City of London office 3 days a week, you will have the option to work from home for the remaining 2 days.
Role Responsibilities
* Lead the development and implementation of Cashier policies and procedures as the role is brought in-house.
* Ensure client money is handled in accordance with SRA Rules; allocate office and client receivables to the correct nominal or client matter code.
* Perform bill reversals and reallocations; identify and resolve discrepancies in financial records.
* Prepare daily and month-end bank reconciliations of office and client bank accounts.
* Review and analyse client accounts to identify residual balances; maintain the ledger for direct debits and standing orders as they are received.
* Collaborate with the Credit Control and Billing teams to ensure timely allocation of funds.
* Support and coach other staff and assist with ad-hoc finance projects during growth initiatives.
Role Requirements
* At least 2-3 years of experience in a Legal Cashiering role.
* Experience with wider finance duties such as analysis, reporting and month-end close support.
* Strong understanding of the SRA Rules; professional, confident, and articulate with strong communication skills.
* Ability to liaise with stakeholders at all levels; comfortable working collaboratively and taking ownership of the Cashiering process.
* Proactive, hardworking, with a strong work ethic and commitment to delivering excellent service.
* Experience with Actionstep Legal system is desirable; intermediate Excel proficiency.
