Offer description

£5,000 welcome bonus. Experienced clinical team. Salary up to £70,000

Are you an experienced Veterinary Surgeon ready to take the next step in your career? This is a fantastic opportunity to join our friendly, supportive, and ambitious team at Prescot Vets for Pets as our new Clinical Lead.

About the Team

Our practice is home to a skilled, close-knit team who bring a wealth of experience and a genuine passion for what they do. Our nursing team has over 40 years of qualified experience, spanning first opinion practice, referral hospitals and charity work.

Our client care colleagues bring 20 years of customer service experience in veterinary medicine, confidently handling all situations while ensuring clients always feel supported.

We’re committed to continuous development, with regular in-house and external CPD. Two of our receptionists are currently training to become VCAs, our HRVN is studying towards a certificate in radiology, and one of our vets is working towards a certificate in small animal dentistry. This culture of growth and teamwork means you’ll be supported not just as a clinician, but also as a leader, with colleagues who are eager to learn, adapt, and succeed together.

About the Role

We’re looking for an experienced Veterinary Surgeon who is confident across all aspects of small animal first opinion practice and routine surgery/medicine. You don’t need previous Clinical Lead experience — we’ll provide support as you step into this leadership role — but we are looking for someone with clinical confidence, excellent communication skills, and a collaborative approach. An interest in surgery, or a desire to further develop surgical skills, would be particularly welcome.

1. Salary up to £70,000 DOE + £5,000 welcome/relocation bonus
2. Flexible working: full or part-time hours considered
3. 1:4 Saturdays on a rota basis
4. A clear career pathway with opportunities for progression and funded CPD, including support for certificates

Why Prescot?

Our practice is based in the busy Cables Retail Park, with free onsite parking and plenty of shops, cafés and restaurants nearby (perfect for a Friday lunch treat!). We’re also just a short walk from Prescot town centre, which has an ever-growing cultural scene — including award-winning restaurants, the famous Shakespeare North Playhouse, and regular arts and community events.

Just outside town is the Knowsley Estate and Safari Park, while Liverpool city centre is only 20 minutes away by train. With Chester, Manchester and the wider Merseyside area within easy reach, you’ll have access to everything from vibrant city life to beautiful countryside — all while being part of a kind, welcoming community.

What We Offer

As part of the UK’s leading small animal veterinary group, you’ll have access to excellent career development opportunities, support from a wider network of clinical leaders, and a generous benefits package, including:

5. Salary up to £70,000 (DOE) + £5,000 welcome/relocation bonus
6. 28 days annual leave (increasing with service)
7. Funded CPD, with full encouragement for further qualifications/certificates
8. Contributory pension scheme
9. Paid memberships (RCVS, VDS, BVA)
10. Exclusive shopping and lifestyle discounts, including 20% off Pets at Home and The Vet Group

At Prescot Vets for Pets, we pride ourselves on delivering the highest standard of care to our patients and clients, while ensuring our colleagues feel supported, valued, and able to thrive. We know how important a positive workplace is, and we’re committed to creating a happy, fun, and forward-thinking environment where you can do your best work.

If you’re ready to step into leadership and make a real difference — while enjoying genuine work–life balance — we’d love to hear from you.

Location: L34 5NQ

Pets just see people. They aren’t biased and they don’t discriminate. We take our inspiration from pets, and we value and respect difference in all its forms. Our aim is to reflect the diversity of the communities we operate in, and every colleague can help us achieve this. We encourage our people to be themselves so even if your skills and experience don’t perfectly align, if you think you can make a unique contribution through your values and behaviours, we want to hear from you!
