We are seeking to appoint a Principal Engineer / Associate Engineer to our Building Services practice, based in our Epsom office, which houses over 100 engineers in the LSE Region.
You will collaborate with bid teams to identify business opportunities, develop comprehensive bid responses, and manage teams to deliver project design services.
Requirements:
* Preferred degree in Electrical Engineering, Chartered status with a relevant institution, and at least 7 years of experience.
* Ability to influence senior management and industry peers positively and challenge constructively.
* Experience in secure projects such as Defence or Nuclear is preferred.
* High technical standing as an Electrical Building Services Engineer.
* Extensive project experience requiring high technical competence.
* Experience in major multi-discipline design projects.
* Demonstrable leadership and people management skills with potential to lead a team.
* Good commercial awareness, business management skills, and results orientation.
* Customer-focused with strong relationship management skills.
* Effective communication skills and a professional approach to clients and colleagues.
* Ability to organize information clearly and write reports effectively.
Responsibilities:
Commercial:
* Identify and secure project opportunities, taking commercial responsibility for the Building Services team on projects.
* Bid for projects in line with business guidelines.
* Manage project costs.
People:
* Build and maintain strong client relationships and develop a client management strategy.
* Manage team performance to ensure high-quality service.
* Provide leadership, motivation, and development for the Building Services team.
* Conduct appraisals and personal development plans for team members.
* Lead by example to foster a high-performing, technically proficient team.
Technical:
* Take full technical responsibility and operational accountability for team output.
* Be familiar with industry standards and guidelines.
* Communicate effectively and challenge design team members to optimize solutions.
* Possess a strong engineering design background and demonstrate leadership in Electrical and Building Services design.
* Have extensive electrical design experience in the construction industry.
* Understand key design considerations in Building Services projects.
Business Development:
* Develop and implement discipline-specific marketing plans.
* Create marketing materials and bid documents.
* Build and nurture a high-profile client base.
The role is based in Epsom, with a requirement to attend the office, site, or client locations three days a week, with flexible/hybrid working for the remaining days. Travel to clients and sites will be necessary as project needs dictate.
