We’re looking for a Business Support Officer to join our SEND Business Support Team within the Children & Families Directorate. This is a fantastic opportunity to play a key role in delivering high‑quality, flexible administrative support that helps the Council meet its priorities for children, families, and the wider community. What You’ll Be Doing In this varied and rewarding role, you’ll provide efficient, effective, and responsive business support across the service. Your responsibilities will include: Administrative & Customer Support Managing shared mailboxes and handling enquiries from internal and external customers Providing professional telephone and reception support, often dealing with sensitive or confidential matters Supporting SEND‑related meetings, workshops, and panels including diarising, arranging venues, preparing papers, minute‑taking, and ensuring timely follow‑up actions Systems, Data & IT Setting up, maintaining, and improving office systems and processes Inputting, monitoring, and analysing service‑specific data across multiple IT platforms Providing basic IT support to colleagues and helping staff use business applications effectively Ensuring compliance with Data Protection, FOI, and other relevant legislation Finance & Procurement Processing financial transactions in line with standing orders and financial regulations Raising purchase orders, administering payments, reconciling financial information, and monitoring expenditure Maintaining inventories and ordering equipment, including basic troubleshooting of hardware/software issues Teamwork & Service Delivery Offering day‑to‑day support and informal mentoring to apprentices and new starters Working flexibly across locations and tasks to ensure continuity of service Contributing to continuous improvement activities and supporting the rollout of new systems and processes Hybrid Working This role offers a great balance of independence and collaboration.
