Job Overview
This busy, friendly Ultrasound department has a vacancy for a Radiology Assistant. The post is based mainly at Aintree University Hospital with occasional rotation to Royal Liverpool, Broadgreen and community sites. It involves multi‑disciplinary team working with Radiographers, Sonographers, Radiologists and clerical teams, caring for a wide range of patients and assisting with radiology‑based procedures and examinations.
Typical working hours are Monday‑Friday 08:30‑17:00 with scope for weekend, evening and bank holiday working.
Detailed Job Description And Main Responsibilities
* Escort patients within the department, chaperoning where necessary and ensuring their comfort and well‑being.
* Assist in undressing and redressing patients.
* Assist patients to use toilet facilities as appropriate.
* Assist patients on and off the ultrasound table before and after procedures.
* Communicate effectively with patients, listening to their concerns, reassuring them, providing information and relaying relevant information to other team members.
* Collect, collate and file patient documentation.
* Input and retrieve patient information using the computerised radiology patient information system and the hospital information support system.
Person Specification
Essential Criteria
* Supportive of colleagues and patients.
* Ability to communicate in a variety of settings with patients and staff of varying levels of understanding.
* Basic computer skills.
* Ability to undertake training to meet the required competencies for this role.
* Understanding of patient confidentiality and direct patient care.
* Experience of working in a hospital setting.
* NVQ Level 2 or equivalent in healthcare.
Qualifications
* NVQ level 2 or equivalent in healthcare.
