Overview
The Gynaecology Directorate is looking to appoint 2 full-time Consultant Subspecialists in Gynaecology Oncology.
About the team and service
The successful candidate will join the Oncology Team which consists of a Subspecialist Gynaecology Oncologist, Oncology Unit Level Lead, and a team of Clinical Nurse Specialists. The Oncology service is a specialist Tertiary Centre and currently provides services at Wolverhampton and Dudley.
Responsibilities
* Be an active member of the gynaecological oncology team in clinic, the ward and operating theatres.
* Participate in the on-call Gynaecology rota.
* Provide clinical consultations for oncology patients at Wolverhampton and at our tertiary centres.
* Provide surgical interventions for complex oncology cases.
* Partake in MDT meetings.
* Support the delivery of a service in gynaecological oncology in conjunction with Consultant and Senior colleagues.
* Play a full part in the out-of-hours on-call service for the department, including telephone advice and major incidents.
* Support the department’s regional reputation as the leading provider for robotic surgery in gynaecology oncology, in conjunction with existing Consultants.
* Take part in medical audit and research as appropriate and ensure clinical governance requirements are met.
* Ensure adequate arrangements for hospital staff involved in patient care to contact you when necessary.
* Take responsibility for and devote time to teaching, examination and accreditation duties for junior medical staff, in conjunction with Consultant and Senior colleagues.
* Provide cover for consultants and senior colleagues during periods of leave.
Working pattern and duties
The post will have 10 programmed activities (PAs), with further PAs negotiable.
