Overview
The Pharmacy Technician works as part of Dover Town Primary Care Network (PCN) multi-disciplinary team (MDT) to deliver high quality primary care by assisting clinical staff in the provision of treatment, preventative care, health promotion and patient education.
The Pharmacy Technician will act within their professional boundaries to support the PCN Clinical Pharmacists to ensure effective and efficient use of medicines. This will include supporting the delivery of clinical medication reviews to proactively manage patients with long-term conditions and complex polypharmacy within General Practice, care homes and patients homes. The ambition is to better utilise the role of pharmacy within primary care to proactively help patients stay safe and well and out of hospital as well as helping to reduce the demands on general practice.
Key Responsibilities
The Pharmacy Technician will play a central role in coordinating discharge summaries and medication reviews, medicines optimisation, repeat prescribing processes, liaising with our patients, nursing homes, carers, hospitals and community pharmacies, responding to medication queries and updating medical records. The Pharmacy Technicians core role responsibilities will cover clinical, technical and administrative categories.
The post holder is required to work across the PCN to ensure the delivery of safe, effective and efficient systems for medicines management, repeat prescribing, medicines optimisation, reducing medicines waste and maximising patient outcomes.
Qualifications
The post holder will be a registered Pharmacy Technician with the General Pharmaceutical Council (GPhC), who is motivated, proactive, committed and has excellent communication skills.

Dover Town PCN is aligned with three practices within Dover, providing health care to our patient population of almost 40000 people.
Our three practices are:
* High Street Surgery – 100 High St, Dover CT16 1EQ. High Street Surgery also has a branch site in Whitfield (Whitfield Surgery) that dispenses to certain patients within the village.
* Peter Street Surgery – 108 Peter St, Dover CT16 1EF. Comprises of three surgeries: Buckland Medical Centre, Brookfield Place, Dover and Tara Surgery, The Droveway, St Margarets which is a dispensing surgery.
* St James Surgery – 2 Harold St, Dover CT16 1SF. Is one of 32 practices within Invicta Health across East Kent & Sussex.
