Location: Stratford, London – Office-based with high flexibility (1-2 days per week in the office). This role includes international travel (approximately 6 times a year; trips between 5-6 days occasionally more).

About the role: The C-Further Search and Evaluation Executive supports the C-Further initiative—an international programme focused on accelerating breakthrough therapies for childhood cancers. The role involves identifying and conducting early assessments of innovative therapeutic opportunities and collaborating with academic institutions, clinicians, industry partners, and charitable organisations to build a robust pipeline of drug discovery projects. The successful candidate will have knowledge of early drug discovery and the evaluation process and may come from a background as a Search and Evaluation Executive, Translational Scientist, or Drug Discovery scout.
What will I be doing?
* Represent C-Further at national and international events to promote visibility and build a network of connections in childhood cancer research
* Lead C-Further’s engagement with the childhood cancer research community and beyond, staying at the cutting edge of drug discovery
* Act as a trusted point of contact for external innovators, guiding them through translation and partnership processes
* Identify, evaluate, and source high-potential therapeutic opportunities in childhood cancer from academia, clinical networks, charities, and industry
* Lead the Project Sourcing workstream strategy in collaboration with C-Further scientific leads and therapeutic discovery teams
* Support assessment of proposals to ensure only the strongest opportunities progress into the C-Further portfolio
* Work with CRUK, LifeArc, and partner organisations to ensure effective handover and onward development of sourced projects
What are you looking for?
* Detailed knowledge of early drug discovery and the evaluation process (target selection, validation, technical feasibility, etc.) across multiple therapeutic modalities
* Confident communicator with excellent interpersonal skills, capable of representing the initiative at high-profile meetings and conferences and engaging senior research stakeholders
* Strong networking and relationship-building skills with experience developing collaborations with academics and/or industry
* Ability to develop and implement search and evaluation strategies that identify high-potential opportunities aligned with translational and commercialisation pathways
* Understanding of end-to-end therapeutic discovery and development processes, including commercialisation and market considerations
* Experience leading in a matrix environment and collaborating across multiple organisations
* Creative thinker with an entrepreneurial approach
* Ability to monitor and interpret strategic trends in paediatric oncology and related fields
