We have an exciting opportunity for a Pharmacy Assistant to join our Pharmacy team at HMP Winchester, a category B Prison located in Winchester.
HMP Winchester is a male prison with a capacity for 690 inmates. We are recruiting for a Pharmacy Assistant to support the wider pharmacy team with tasks such as witnessing second checking, stock checking, invoicing etc. This will be a patient‑facing role and you will need to be on the wings occasionally.
Hours
4 days a week 07:30-17:30. Currently there will be no weekend working however this will change in the future to a 7 day operation where you will need to work weekends, bank holidays and over the Christmas period on a rota basis.
Salary
This position is full time, you'll receive an annual salary up to £29,723 per annum FTE - depending on experience.

Main duties of the job
* Complete general dispensary duties and stock management
* Be working as an active member of the Pharmaceutical team to ensure delivery of the pharmaceutical service
* Provide a timely and efficient service to the prison wings
* Receive prescriptions and stick returns from wing based clinical areas
* Collect orders from suppliers from the Main Gate and arrange collection of return
* Participate in dispensing of prescriptions

Qualifications required
* NVQ Level 2 in Pharmacy Service Skills/equivalent or working towards
* Medicines handling experience desirable not essential
* Level 2 English and Maths or equivalent
* A non-judgmental and compassionate approach
* Excellent communication skills
* Good IT skills and IT literacy
* Ability to work within a busy environment
* Ability to work unsupervised whilst following policy and procedures
