Facilities Co-ordinator - Minehead Summary We're looking for a Facilities Co-ordinator with the skills to keep Dunster Castle and Coleridge Cottage in tiptop condition and running smoothly for all the people who visit and love this amazing place. Salary : 13.25 per hour. The advertised salary for this role will be in effect from 1st April. Contract : Permanent Hours/ working pattern: Part-time, 22.5 hours per week Due to the nature of the role a full UK Driving Licence is required. What it's like to work here Dunster Castle, perched on a wooded hill, is a place with deep historical roots, dating back to Norman times. The site includes a medieval gatehouse, a ruined tower, and a castle that was transformed into a lavish country home in the 19th century by the Luttrell family, who lived here for 600 years. The grounds feature terraced gardens with Mediterranean and subtropical plants, a tranquil riverside garden, a natural play area, and a historic watermill, offering stunning views over the Bristol Channel. Dunster Castle attracts visitors from near and far, providing an opportunity to engage a diverse audience and create memorable experiences. You’ll be reporting to the Facilities Manager, leading a team of Facilities Volunteers at the Dunster Property Group (which includes Dunster Castle and Coleridge Cottage) and working with colleagues across the Properties, to plan and coordinate the delivery of work and small projects required to help care for our historic buildings and estate and ensure they are safe for our visitors to enjoy. What you'll be doing As the Facilities Co-ordinator, you’ll be making sure that Dunster Castle and Coleridge Cottage operate as they should, by running an effective facilities service that delivers a high standard of presentation and visitor experience. You’ll be coordinating maintenance and repairs (reactive, as well as planned and preventative), including maintaining the Facilities task list and schedule. This will include managing upcoming compliance tasks to ensure they are completed in a timely manner and that the sites operate safely. You will work closely with other members of the Property team to coordinate tasks, and with contractors, with duties including obtaining quotes to ensure value for money, raising purchase orders and ensuring the appropriate risk assessments are in place, to checking the work has been completed to the agreed specification. You will work as part of our Facilities team and be prepared to roll your sleeves up to help the Facilities Manager and Volunteers to get some of the smaller jobs done in-house. This might involve anything from small repair jobs to putting the Christmas lights out, but whatever the task, you will take account of the appropriate health and safety considerations. As the Dunster Property Group consists of listed heritage sites, you will work as part of a wider team with our Regional Building Surveyors to ensure that the appropriate steps are taken and methods used to care for these important places. You may also take on some general caretaking duties where needed to ensure the presentation of public areas and visitor facilities (including car parks and grounds) are of a high standard, and general administrative duties to ensure the Property Group runs efficiently.
