Health & Safety Senior Specialist (H&S Manager)

An exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced Health & Safety professional to join a well-established manufacturing organisation. This position is ideal for a motivated individual who is passionate about driving high standards of Health, Safety and Environmental (HSE) performance across a busy operational site.
The successful candidate will lead the HSE function, act as the competent person, and play a key role in maintaining a positive safety culture throughout the organisation. Key responsibilities of the Health and Safety Manager:
* Lead and manage the Health, Safety and Environmental (HSE) function across the site.
* Act as the competent person, identifying hazards and assessing operational risks.
* Develop, implement, and maintain robust risk assessment and control measures.
* Conduct site inspections, audits, and safety tours; report findings and ensure corrective actions are completed.
* Liaise with regulatory bodies, insurers, and other external stakeholders as required.
* Provide day‑to‑day HSE support and guidance to employees at all levels, from shop floor to management.
* Support capital and improvement projects, ensuring HSE risks are identified and controlled.
* Deliver training sessions, presentations, and workshops on HSE topics and accident prevention.
* Prepare routine HSE reports and maintain accurate performance records.
* Lead investigations into accidents and incidents, ensuring legal and company requirements are met.
* Develop and maintain HSE procedures, work instructions, and emergency response plans.
Key requirements for the Health and Safety Manager:
* A wealth of experience in a Health, Safety & Environmental role within a manufacturing or similar technical environment.
* Graduate or Chartered Member of the Institution of Occupational Safety and Health (IOSH).
* Proven experience working with management systems such as ISO 9001, ISO 14001, ISO 45001, or ISO 50001.
* Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to engage effectively at all business levels.
* Strong IT skills, including proficiency with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint).
* A recognised Health & Safety qualification (e.g., BSc in Health & Safety, NEBOSH National Diploma, or equivalent).
