Responsibilities
1. Support the unit Manager in day-to-day management and operations of the unit- Maintaining a compliant, safe and homely environment
2. Act as a role model and mentor to staff, demonstrating professionalism, integrity, and a commitment to the highest standards of care and ethical practice.
3. Serve as the Deputy Manager, taking legal responsibility for the service and acting as part of the senior professionals within the team.
4. Ensure the young people receive the best care
5. Help to lead in safeguarding efforts, ensuring all vulnerable individuals are protected
6. Placement & Record Management: Help to oversee placement plans, admissions, discharges, and ensure accurate, detailed record-keeping.
7. Work closely with social workers, health professionals, local authorities, and the Therapeutic Team to provide holistic support
8. Help to supervise report writing and attend court to provide evidence when necessary.
9. Promote the health and welfare of the young people, ensuring all needs are met in a safe, homely environment.
10. Foster an open, supportive environment for residents and ensure effective communication within the team.
11. Create a supportive and safe environment for children, adhering to safeguarding policies and legislation.
12. Maintain high standards of care and monitor consumer satisfaction.
13. Assist the Home Manager and support staff in compliance and rota management.
14. Safeguard children by reporting concerns as per company policies.
15. Plan shifts and allocate duties to staff daily.
16. Supervise and mentor staff, including new hires during their induction.
17. Work with placement plans and risk assessments to ensure continuity of support for families.
18. Maintain written records for monitoring by social workers.
19. Advocate for families’ rights and promote positive outcomes.
20. Complete necessary administrative tasks for smooth operations.
21. Ensure effective handovers and meet the medical needs of families.
22. Take overall responsibility for shifts when directed and assist with quality assurance.
23. Participate in the on-call system and cover emergencies as needed.
24. Work a flexible 7-day shift pattern, including nights and weekends
Requirements
25. Hold a Level 3 in Children and Young Peoples Workforce Diploma (or equivalent)
26. Either hold or be committed to completing Level 5 diploma in Leadership and Management for health & social care children & young people services
27. Minimum two years’ experience working in social care
28. Experience leading and motivating a staff team
29. Knowledge of legislation and Ofsted requirements
30. Flexible and willing to go the extra mile
