As we expand, we are seeking a reliable and detail-oriented Finance Assistant to support our finance team and contribute to the smooth operation of our financial processes.
The Finance Assistant will be responsible for supporting the day-to-day financial operations of the business. This role requires strong organisational skills, attention to detail, and the ability to work both independently and as part of a team. Reporting to the Finance Manager, the successful candidate will assist with financial record-keeping, invoicing, reconciliations, and administrative tasks.
Key Responsibilities:
* Assist with the preparation and processing of invoices, purchase orders, and payments
* Maintain accurate and up-to-date financial records
* Perform bank and account reconciliations
* Support month-end and year-end financial close processes
* Assist with VAT returns and other statutory reporting requirements
* Manage petty cash and staff expense claims
* Liaise with suppliers and internal departments to resolve invoice queries
* Assist with payroll preparation and data entry
* Support the Finance Manager with ad hoc financial tasks and reporting
* Ensure compliance with company financial policies and procedures
Requirements:
* Proven experience in a finance or accounts assistant role
* Good understanding of basic accounting principles
* Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and financial software (e.g. Sage, Xero, QuickBooks)
* Strong numerical and analytical skills
* High level of accuracy and attention to detail
* Excellent organisational and time-management skills
* Ability to handle confidential information with integrity
* AAT qualification (or working towards) is desirable
