Job Overview

UPP is recruiting a Residence Manager to manage day‑to‑day operations at the designated residences in Oxford. The role is permanent, working 37.5 hours per week (9:00‑17:30, Monday‑Friday) with participation in an on‑call rota. The provisional start date is 1August2026, with an annual salary of £39,702.
Key Responsibilities
* Supervise, recruit, induct, train, and appraise cleaning and front‑of‑house staff, identifying training needs and conducting appraisals.
* Monitor staff performance, manage issues as necessary, and plan staff resources including absence, time‑keeping, timesheets, and annual leave authorisation.
* Ensure service standards in line with the company’s SOPs and SLAs, and liaise with the maintenance team to ensure appropriate works are undertaken.
* Facilitate access for maintenance contractors and visitors, manage a programme of room checks, and capture and charge damages and additional costs.
* Plan summer vacation lets, intake and departure schedules, and deep‑cleaning work schedules.
* Monitor and control health, safety, security and maintenance standards of the residence and grounds, carrying out regular inspections and reporting issues, investigating incidents, and maintaining compliance with the Health and Safety at Work Act.
* Promote a customer‑service excellence culture, communicate with residents in a friendly manner, and achieve high levels of customer satisfaction.
* Deal with enquiries and complaints effectively, escalating as necessary.
* Maintain confidential liaison with UPP staff, residents, University clients, the Warden, JCR representatives, and other agencies relating to student welfare.
Qualifications / Experience
* Experience managing a team in a fast‑paced environment with strong communication and organisation skills.
* Proficiency working with IT packages/databases, including Microsoft Office.
* Preparedness for on‑call duties and additional hours during key periods, including the main student arrival and departure weekends.
* Flexibility to work outside core hours to meet members of the night team when required.
* A passion for delivering excellent service and an enthusiasm for creating a positive student experience.
