Café Manager Job Description Overview
We are seeking a dedicated and enthusiastic Café Manager to oversee the daily operations of our café. The ideal candidate will possess a strong background in hospitality and cookery, with a passion for delivering exceptional customer service. Duties
* Supervise daily café operations, ensuring smooth service and high-quality food preparation.
* Lead and manage a team of staff, providing training, support, and motivation to enhance their skills in food production and customer service.
* Delegate tasks effectively to ensure efficiency and accountability within the team.
* Oversee food safety protocols, ensuring compliance with health regulations and maintaining cleanliness throughout the café and surrounding areas.
* Ensure the quality, consistency, and presentation of all food and beverages meet required standards.
* Monitor portion control and product standards to deliver value and customer satisfaction.
* Manage inventory, including ordering supplies, organising and maintaining stock areas, and implementing stock rotation to minimise waste.
* Build and maintain strong relationships with suppliers to ensure reliable and cost-effective stock management.
* Maintain financial responsibilities, including cashing up, reconciling tills, monitoring sales, and controlling costs to maximise profitability.
* Assist with budget management, forecasting, and reporting to senior management.
* Foster a welcoming and customer-focused environment, addressing compliments and complaints promptly and professionally.
* Coordinate staff rotas and manage shift schedules to ensure adequate cover and smooth operations.
* Conduct regular staff meetings and performance reviews to maintain high levels of team engagement and accountability.
* Implement marketing initiatives, seasonal promotions, and local events to enhance café visibility and attract new customers.
* Uphold health, safety, and food hygiene regulations, maintaining accurate compliance records.
Qualifications
* Proven experience in a supervisory or management role within the restaurant, café, or hospitality industry.
* Strong cookery background with knowledge of food preparation, cooking techniques, and menu coordination.
* Excellent leadership skills with the ability to motivate and manage a team effectively.
* Strong organisational skills with the ability to multitask and delegate in a fast-paced environment.
* Familiarity with food safety standards and health regulations is essential.
* Previous experience in hospitality or hotel environments is advantageous.
* Barista experience is a plus, along with knowledge of coffee preparation techniques.
* Exceptional communication skills, both verbal and written, to interact effectively with staff, suppliers, and customers.
