The successful candidate for this role will undertake a Business Administration and Improvement Practitioner Apprenticeship. As an apprentice, you will acquire fundamental knowledge to work in Operations within a protective coatings manufacturing environment and develop a career path to become a proactive and innovative member of the Continuous Improvement (CI) team. The role involves engaging in project work following CI methodologies to enhance operational performance. You will learn the basics of CI and Lean techniques, leading to Operational Excellence. Working alongside highly skilled professionals, your operational knowledge will significantly grow during the apprenticeship.

Responsibilities
During the apprenticeship, you will participate in a structured training program in Operations with comprehensive on-the-job training. You will learn about all areas of Continuous Improvement and Operational Excellence within Operations.
Responsibilities will include:
1. Improving operational performance by challenging the status quo, championing lean philosophy, measuring losses accurately, and developing and implementing continuous improvement plans.
2. Enhancing transparency in Operations through robust measurement of losses across all areas, including generating appropriate loss trees. Acting as the gatekeeper for the measurement system.
3. Promoting a ‘management by fact’ approach.
4. Increasing productivity by leading the use of lean tools (e.g., value stream mapping, 5S, Kanban) to eliminate delays, duplications, unnecessary movements, communication issues, inventory inaccuracies, lost sales, and defects.
5. Leading pillar initiatives for Early Product Management.
6. Coaching production teams in continuous improvement techniques and fostering a proactive CI culture, ensuring work ownership is assigned at the appropriate levels.
7. Developing and delivering training programs on continuous improvement tools.
8. Challenging the production team to maintain momentum in improvements.
9. Maintaining the Sherwin-Williams Continuous Improvement Database.
10. Managing project improvement initiatives.
