As our Commercial Estates & Facilities Management Technician, you’ll be using your technical experience, knowledge and skills to ensure Aster Group provides a safety-first culture in respect of our workspaces and facilities. This is a small, but very busy team, who respond to various challenges daily, you will need to have the energy and drive to proactively support our colleagues and the wider team across the whole portfolio. You will be responsible for supporting the Commercial Estate & Facilities Manager with the day-to-day function of technical maintenance and advice, to deliver a great facilities management service. Your work will be administered via three different systems and so being proficient and competent to use IT Systems is essential. Your tasks will include but will not be limited to: Supporting and managing Contractors (this also involves reviewing RAMS, performing site inductions and sharing various building specific information). Fire detection testing and recording Emergency light testing Health and safety inspections Ensuring Equipment and Consumables are kept replenished and in usable condition Weekly inspections of Operational yards and assisting in the management of waste collections L8 water management protocols PAT electrical testing and certification General small building repairs which could involve anything from basic carpentry (door lock changes), the plumbing (leaks within Kitchens & bathrooms) to electrical (changing light bulbs) and painting. Acting as an on-site trained Fire Warden and First Aider Assist with identifying risks and ensuring measures are implemented to eliminate or reduce the risks. You will be able to work independently however, will also work collaboratively to ensure that the service you are performing is aligned to our policies and procedures and is consistent across the whole portfolio. Your responsibility will be for the workspaces in Dorset, Somerset, Devon and Cornwall and you’ll ideally be based in Dorset, where we have workspaces in Wareham, Weymouth and Ferndown. You will have an agreed set pattern for visiting the various sites, which may be flexed on occasion if an emergency occurs. About you You will come to the role with previous maintenance/trade experience, bringing your skills and knowledge of general maintenance and minor repairs. You may already hold an IOSH qualification or be working towards it. You’ll have a logical practical approach to work, considering health and safety at all times. You’ll be happy communicating with colleagues at all levels and will be confident using IT systems and equipment, including laptops and tablets. You will be flexible in your approach to work and you’ll manage your workload accordingly. You’ll be happy to work independently, taking responsibility for your outputs, ensuring that you are effectively contributing to enable the team to meet their joint objectives. A van will be provided for the role, we will therefore need you to hold a full, clean UK manual driving licence.
