Role: Mechanical Start-Up Manager Location: UK Contract Type: Outside IR35 (12 Month) Mint Selection are currently partnered with a leading IPP delivering large-scale energy infrastructure across the UK. They are seeking an experienced Mechanical Start-Up Manager to join the team on a long-term contract basis to oversee the mechanical commissioning phase of a major gas peaking project. Scope of Work: Lead the mechanical start-up and commissioning phase from construction handover through to commercial readiness Oversee installation verification, system filling, flushing, pressure testing, and mechanical completion Coordinate with construction, engineering, QA/QC, and operations teams to ensure system readiness Supervise and guide contractors, technicians, and OEM representatives during start-up activities Manage commissioning documentation, including checklists, redlines, test records, and certifications Ensure compliance with design specifications, safety protocols (LOTO, confined space, pressure systems), and quality standards Conduct on-site inspections and support the resolution of mechanical issues during start-up Interface with project leadership, vendors, and cross-disciplinary teams (electrical, controls, civil) Contribute to system handover, performance testing, and operational transition Provide technical input into lessons learned and commissioning strategy for future phases Requirements: Minimum 5 years of mechanical commissioning/start-up experience, ideally in power generation or gas peaking Proven ability to manage the transition from construction to commissioning of rotating equipment, piping, and auxiliary systems Strong working knowledge of gas turbines, fuel gas systems, lube oil, cooling water systems, and mechanical interlocks Competent in reading P&IDs, mechanical schematics, and managing system turnover Familiar with safety procedures related to mechanical systems (e.g. LOTO, pressure testing) Excellent communication and leadership skills in a field-based environment If interested, please apply within or contact Harry Arnold on 44 208 057 3868 for further information.
