As Head of Cyber Security, you will lead our growing Cyber Security capability and play a pivotal role in ensuring the University community has practical, safe, and secure access to key systems, services, and data. Your responsibilities will include security risk management, threat detection, policies, compliance and assurance, and security architecture, addressing current and future needs of the University.
Alongside driving the University’s implementation of zero-trust architecture, you will be responsible for our ongoing Cyber Essentials implementation and our overall security strategy. You will work closely with our outsourced 24/7 SOC and internal technical teams to ensure any incidents are managed effectively.
Experience
1. Proven experience leading cybersecurity within a complex IT environment
2. Strong understanding of best practice standards such as Cyber Essentials and ISO27001
3. Knowledge and experience using information and security legislation to enable business needs (GDPR, FOI, PCI-DSS)
4. Knowledge of modern technology security practices around operations, services, infrastructure, hosting, platforms, and open-source technology
5. Experience delivering systems and security designs and decisions at pace while setting service and development standards; leading the development and implementation of digital security best practices
6. Knowledge and experience with vulnerability management, incident management & response, secure development techniques, and approaches; establishing and maintaining clear and measurable Cyber Security strategic plans, budgets, and targets
7. Strong stakeholder experience, with the ability to build strong relationships across all levels of the organization and externally, and communicate effectively with non-technical audiences
