Job Description
A leading national law firm is seeking to recruit an experienced charities lawyer to join its highly regarded team that advises across the not-for-profit, education and sports sectors. This team is known for handling an exceptionally broad range of matters, from day-to-day operational and regulatory advice to complex, high-profile projects involving mergers, collaborations, governance restructuring and commercial ventures. The quality and variety of work on offer here is rare, offering the right individual a chance to make a real impact on organisations that operate with purpose at their core.
The ideal candidate will be a qualified solicitor with a strong track record in charity law, ideally with five or more years’ post-qualification experience. They will have worked with a range of charity and not-for-profit structures and have a solid grounding in governance matters, constitutional issues, fundraising regulation and the nuances of trading and commercial arrangements for charities. The role requires someone who can interpret technical law in a way that is clear, practical and commercially minded, offering solutions that reflect the complex realities these organisations face. Experience of advising clients in the sports or education sectors would be a distinct advantage, though it is by no means essential.
Cultural fit is equally important. The successful candidate will be someone who enjoys working as part of a close-knit and collaborative team, while also being confident in managing their own matters and building trusted client relationships. This is a role for a lawyer who is genuinely interested in supporting organisations that operate for public benefit, and who takes pride in delivering excellent service with a personable and approachable style. An interest in contributing to wider business development activities – whether through thought leadership, networking or internal initiatives – would also be warmly welcomed.
This firm offers an environment that truly supports agile working. The successful hire will have the flexibility to work remotely for part of the week, while also enjoying access to modern office facilities when needed. Although the practice has deep roots in the North East, the reach of its client base extends across the UK and beyond, making this an excellent opportunity for a specialist charities lawyer looking for national-level work with the balance and quality of life that agile working brings.
