Overview

Working as part of the Social Inclusion Team, the role will deliver on Middlesbrough Football Club Foundation’s Switch It Project. The role will also support the delivery of Premier League Kicks Programme. The delivery will focus on high-quality, engaging and supportive one-to-one mentoring as well as small group workshops based on identified themes such as Mental Health and Wellbeing and Knife Crime. Job Description

* Plan, prepare and deliver a range of targeted interventions to children and young people who are referred to Switch It Project. Sessions predominantly take place within school settings.
* Build positive, trusted relationships with young people through implementing early and responsive intervention based on individual needs.
* Be a positive role model for children and young people.
* Work with other multi-agency organisations to provide wrap-around support for the young person and their family.
* Create and sustain partnerships with local schools and organisations to provide suitable exit strategies for participants.
* Support and encourage children and young people (of your caseload) to access Premier League Kicks in the evening.
* Support with the delivery of other programmes/sessions across Middlesbrough Football Club Foundation including some evening and weekend work. Examples include Premier League Kicks, Match Day and Holiday Camps.
* Undertake administrative tasks and communicate with different stakeholders.
* Support with data collection with support from your Line Manager and the Data and Impact Coordinator.
* Demonstrate a strong commitment to equality, diversity and inclusion, including adapting resources and engagements to ensure equal opportunities for all.
* Adhere to health and safety requirements with support of your Line Manager and the Health and Safety Manager.
* Be committed to safeguarding and working with Safeguarding Ambassadors and the Designated Safeguarding Officer.
* Promote the vision, mission and core values of Middlesbrough Football Club Foundation.


Experience

* Essential – Experience and/or understanding of basic youth work practices, including but not limited to detached, mobile and centre-based youth work and one-to-one mentoring.
* Essential – Experience of working with children and young people in an educational/youth work or sport setting.
* Essential – A passion for improving opportunities for young people from high-need areas and/or under-represented groups.
* Essential – Ability to communicate with young people, schools and partner agencies.
* Desirable – (Same as Essential list for this role, but noted as desirable).


Qualifications

* Essential – A good standard of general education including high level literacy and numeracy skills.
* Essential – Level 2 Youth Work Qualification or willingness to work towards.
* Essential – Level 2 Effective Mentoring or willingness to work towards.
* Essential – Emergency First Aid Certificate or willing to work towards.
* Essential – Trauma-Informed Practice Training or willingness to work towards.
* Essential – FA Safeguarding Children Course or willingness to work towards.
* Desirable – Youth Mental Health First Aid Certificate or willing to work towards.
* Desirable – Level 1 or above Sports Coaching Qualification from a recognised National Governing Body (e.g. FA Introduction to Football/UEFA C Licence) or willingness to work towards.
* Desirable – Creating Safe Spaces Training.
* Desirable – Level 3 Youth Work.


Specific Skills and Knowledge

* Essential – Knowledge of safeguarding responsibilities linked to youth work practice.
* Essential – Ability to work independently, being a self-starter, proactive, and able to think creatively and take initiative for inspirational delivery.
* Essential – Strong commitment to quality service delivery.
* Essential – Desire to be a positive role model in the eyes of young people.
* Essential – Experience in collecting data.
* Essential – Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
* Essential – Flexible and adaptable delivery approach.
* Essential – Willingness to work as part of a team and contribute to both the Social Inclusion Team delivery and wider Middlesbrough Football Club Foundation operations.
* Essential – Desire to be a positive role model for young people.
* Desirable – Knowledge of issues facing young people from high-need communities.
* Desirable – IT skills including word processing, spreadsheets and databases.


Additional Requirements

* Essential – Flexible approach to working hours including evenings and weekends, and ability to visit a variety of locations regularly.
* Essential – A valid driving licence, access to own transport including business insurance, and willingness to travel within the Tees Valley.
* Essential – Be eligible to work in the UK.
* Essential – A satisfactory enhanced DBS check will need to be completed.
