CarmichaelUK is proud to be working with CMDP, a joint venture between Costain and MWH Treatment, delivering a high-profile, multi-million-pound Design & Build Framework in the water sector. As part of this ambitious programme, we're seeking a talented and driven Civil Estimator to join the team in Falmer, supporting vital upgrades to drinking water and wastewater treatment facilities across the South East. If you have a solid background in civil engineering estimation and are passionate about delivering essential infrastructure that makes a real impact, we want to hear from you. What You’ll Be Doing: Preparing detailed and accurate budget estimates during early design stages Developing target prices for civil packages on projects ranging from £250K to £20M Reviewing specifications and drawings to ensure fully compliant, cost-effective solutions Producing activity schedules and Bills of Quantities (BOQs) in accordance with client standards Visiting project sites across the region to support pricing accuracy and practical planning Collaborating with M&E estimators and project teams on integrated temporary and permanent works Gathering and assessing subcontractor and supplier quotations for civil packages Applying first-principles estimating to develop bottom-up costs Preparing project-related indirect costs (e.g. site setup, welfare, staffing) Supporting internal pricing reviews and participating in settlement meetings Contributing to continuous improvement and innovation in estimating best practice What We’re Looking For: Essential: Proven experience estimating civil works such as earthworks, concrete foundations, pipework, ducting, and roads Degree or qualification in Civil Engineering or related discipline Strong knowledge of temporary works and construction methodologies High proficiency with MS Excel and familiarity with estimating software/tools Excellent communication, commercial awareness, and attention to detail Ability to manage multiple tenders with tight deadlines in a fast-paced framework environment Desirable: Experience in the water/utilities sector Working knowledge of treatment processes and pumping systems Familiarity with cost capture systems and programme analysis CSCS card and valid UK driving licence Why Join via CarmichaelUK? ✔ Access to major civil infrastructure projects across the UK ✔ Dedicated candidate support throughout your contract ✔ Competitive rates, long-term opportunities, and career progression ✔ We prioritise your safety, compliance, and satisfaction
