NHS Greater Glasgow and Clyde is one of the largest healthcare systems in the UK employing around 40,000 staff in a wide range of clinical and non-clinical professions and job roles. We deliver acute hospital, primary, community and mental health care services to a population of over 1.15 million and a wider population of 2.2 million when our regional and national services are included.
There is an opportunity to join the Inverclyde Royal Hospital anaesthetic department as a permanent member of staff on a 6.5 PA job plan. The department welcoming and friendly. We strive towards providing excellent, safe and realistic patient centred care for our patients, their relatives and our staff.
The hospital is the elective Orthopaedic Hub for Clyde and there are plans to expand the colorectal surgical capacity. Other surgical specialties include CEPOD, General surgery, Opthalmology, Breast, ENT, Orthopaedic, Urology, Paediatric Dental, Plastic Surgery& Gynaecology. The Acute pain service is consultant led, and has input from an Acute Pain Nurse.
The department supports anaesthetic CT and ST trainees for elective specialty training.
There are opportunities to attend regular CPD meetings and to engage in educational, quality improvement, or research activities locally, and also opportunities to link in with the Royal Alexandra Hospital (RAH), and with consultants at the Queen Elizabeth Hospital Glasgow (QUEH).
As a specialty doctor, you will be covering the middle grade rota. There are opportunities to develop your area of clinical interest, leadership and management skills, as well as opportunities to contribute to undergraduate medical student and allied health professional teaching and education. Additionally, we are also able to assist and support with FRCA Primary examinations.
The Job plan consist of a 6.5PA = (2 x 12.5 hour shifts 08:30 21:00).
To apply for this post you should have full GMC registration, be eligible to work in the UK, and have at least 3 years balanced experience in anaesthesia and critical care, and be able to carry out inter-hospital transfer of critical care patients with distant supervision.

SPECIALTY DOCTOR Must Meet The Following Criteria
* shall have full registration and a Licence to Practice with the General Medical Council (GMC); and
* shall have completed at least four years’ full-time postgraduate training (or its equivalent gained on a less than full-time or flexible basis) at least two of which will be in a specialty training programme or specialty registrar locum appointment for training (LAT); or
* shall have equivalent training, experience or competencies, either in the UK or overseas.
