The role:
We are seeking a proactive Mechanical Design Engineer with strong innovation and analytical skills. You will develop 3D CAD designs, structural fabrications and system integrations while supporting manufacture, assembly and testing. The role demands flexibility, creativity and enthusiasm for engineering in a fast-paced project driven environment.
Salary:
Up to £45,000 p/a with relevant experience
Key responsibilities:
* Produce 3D CAD designs and detail drawings to BS8888
* Design structural components with supporting calculations and FEA
* Apply Design for Manufacture principles
* Manage workload and raise risks early
* Present designs to internal and external stakeholders
* Support manufacture, assembly and testing
* Produce and manage CAD models, drawings and bills of materials
* Provide technical support across the business
* Collaborate in a multi disciplinary team and liaise with suppliers
* Follow quality procedures and industry standards
* Flexibility to travel nationally and internationally
Qualifications and experience:
* Degree qualified (BSc or BEng) in mechanical engineering or related field
* Minimum of two years of relevant experience
* Skilled in 2D and 3D CAD (Inventor preferred, CATIA or SolidWorks considered)
* Experience in drawings, 3D design and bills of materials
* Familiarity with FEA desirable but not essential

* Organised, proactive and eager to learn
* Team player with interest in manufacturing processes
* Full UK driving licence required
Work conditions:
Office based with occasional visits to workshop, suppliers or client sites. Four-day week (Mon to Thurs, 09:00 to 17:00). National and international travel possible. Training and mentoring provided by the Engineering Director and wider team.
