About the role
IWFM is seeking to appoint up to three Co-Opted Non-Executive Directors to strengthen the Board’s collective skills, insight and experience in support of the Institute’s strategic direction.
Co-Opted NEDs are full Board members and Company Directors, appointed for their specialist expertise and their ability to provide independent judgement, constructive challenge and strategic oversight.
Skills and experience sought
The Board is particularly interested in candidates who can bring depth of experience in one or more of the following priority areas:
* Digital and technology transformation
* Education, training and professional development
* Marketing, communications and member engagement
* International or multi-sector experience
Candidates are not expected to demonstrate expertise across all areas. Appointments will be made to ensure a balanced and complementary mix of skills across the Board.
What you will bring
You will be able to demonstrate experience operating at Board or equivalent senior governance level, strong strategic thinking, sound independent judgement, and the confidence to constructively challenge and support executive leadership. Alignment with IWFM’s values and professional mission, together with strong communication and interpersonal skills, is essential.
Board and committee involvement
In addition to attending Board meetings, Co-Opted NEDs may, by agreement, be invited to contribute to standing Board committees or to provide Board-level input to specific project or programme boards where this aligns with their skills and experience. Such involvement is not mandatory.
Equality, diversity and inclusion
IWFM is committed to equality, diversity and inclusion and welcomes applications from individuals of all backgrounds. We are keen to broaden the diversity of perspectives on our Board and encourage applications from groups currently under-represented in governance roles.
How to apply
Candidates wishing to apply should submit a completed IWFM Co-Opted NED Application Form, together with a current CV. The application form enables candidates to demonstrate how their skills and experience align with the role and the Board’s agreed priority areas.
