Job Details: Must be on the GMC specialist register as a Histopathologist and be able to report independently. Experience reporting within histopathology specialties is preferred, especially GI, urology, breast and gynaecology. This is a full-time role (Mon-Fri, 8 hours per day) with some flexibility around working hours once established in the department. Remote working is not available. Responsibilities
* Actively support patients and their families, communicating clinical information to explain a diagnosis using various methods to ensure practical understanding.
* Work in and, where appropriate, lead a multidisciplinary team.
* Assess and prioritise patient/client requirements, delegating effectively to others.
* Examine a range of patients, using diagnostic skills to determine necessary tests.
* Support and advise clinical staff, informing them of the use and limitations of each diagnostic investigation.
* Provide advice and interpret test results, assessing the appropriateness of further investigations.
* Deliver clinical care to patients where needed and conduct ward rounds and outpatient clinics.
* Oversee the smooth running of the Pathology Department, including planning workload and staffing requirements where required.
* Supervise and teach junior medical staff as required.
* Carry out research and keep up to date with new information.
* Adhere to the NMC Code of Conduct as applicable.
Qualifications
* Be a GMC registered Doctor with full license to practice.
* Must hold FRCPath Part 2.
* Completion of higher training (CCT or within 6 months of obtaining).
* Applicants without CCT registration must demonstrate extensive experience working at consultant grade and hold FRCPath Part 2.
* Must have evidence of Right to Work in the UK (locum visas sponsorship is not provided).
* Enhanced DBS check may be required.
* Willing to work as PAYE only and not as Ltd company, as this is NHS hospital locum work.
