Role Overview
Community Midwifery Team – North Manchester Site. We seek an experienced midwife to serve as Team Leader, supporting the local and national vision for continuous, compassionate maternity care. Saint Mary’s Manchester University NHS Foundation Trust provides comprehensive obstetric services to women across Manchester, Trafford, Salford and the North West, and the role places you at the centre of a varied and complex patient population.
Key Responsibilities
* Lead and manage a team of midwives, fostering a high‑performance, collaborative working environment.
* Develop and enhance clinical practice as a midwifery expert, providing evidence‑based advice to colleagues and partners across the organisation.
* Collaborate closely with Matrons, Lead Midwives and external agencies to ensure seamless continuity of care.
* Implement and monitor quality improvement initiatives, supporting change management processes.
* Use influencing and negotiation skills to engage stakeholders and secure resources for service development.
* Maintain a bespoke personal development plan and support the professional growth of your team.
Qualifications & Experience
* Clinical qualification as a midwife with significant experience in community midwifery.
* Demonstrated leadership and management ability, including team supervision.
* Strong communication, interpersonal and organisational skills.
* Track record of supporting change, influencing practice and negotiating effectively.
* Commitment to providing safe, high‑quality patient care across primary, secondary and tertiary settings.
