Job Title : Autism Support Worker Location : Horsham Salary : £88.92 - £95 per day Contract Type : Part-Time Start Date : Immediately About the School This inclusive and nurturing SEN school in Horsham is committed to providing high-quality education and personalised support for pupils with Autism Spectrum Condition (ASC) and associated learning needs. Staff work collaboratively to ensure that every pupil feels understood, supported, and empowered to succeed both academically and personally. About the Role As an Autism Support Worker, you will play an essential role in supporting pupils with autism to access learning, build independence, and develop essential communication and life skills. Working closely with class teachers, therapists, and SENCOs, you’ll help to implement individual support plans, encourage engagement, and create a calm, structured environment where pupils can thrive. Responsibilities Support pupils with autism in accessing learning activities tailored to their individual needs Implement structured routines and use strategies to support emotional regulation and communication Encourage independence through guided activities that build confidence and self-esteem Assist with personal care and sensory needs when required Monitor pupil progress and provide feedback to teachers and SEN staff Work collaboratively with the wider school team to ensure consistent, high-quality support Qualifications Experience supporting children or young people with Autism Spectrum Condition (ASC) or other additional needs Understanding of communication approaches such as PECS, Makaton, or visual supports (advantageous) Strong behaviour management and emotional regulation support skills A patient, empathetic, and proactive approach to helping pupils succeed Good understanding of safeguarding and child protection practices Please be advised that this role requires a strong knowledge and understanding of safeguarding and child protection and that successful applicants must satisfy all background safer recruitment checks; including providing an enhanced DBS certificate registered on the update service, or completing an application for a new check.
