A fantastic development opportunity for a highly motivated registered nurse who wishes to advance learning and development within the community collaborative.

The post holder will support the provision of education and training to a range of staff and learners working in community nursing and community in‑patient services. The role is pivotal in ensuring staff have the knowledge and skills to provide excellent patient care.

The successful candidate will need to be a team player, be able to organise their own workload, have well‑developed people skills and a passion for supporting others to learn and develop in order to enhance quality of care. Knowledge and skills at a band 7 level will also need to be demonstrated by the candidate.

The role will involve the identification of speciality specific education and training needs in collaboration with the Community Collaborative Quality matrons, planning and delivering education and training for groups of staff and learners. You will need to be able to travel independently across Cumbria to deliver education and professional development support at multiple sites.


Main duties of the job

Working collaboratively the post holder will develop and deliver clinical education programmes.

Promote an environment that encourages learning and sustains personal and professional staff development.

To be a clinical expert to provide "hands on" supervision of staff in clinical practice to promote the acquisition of new skills and knowledge.

Undertake training needs analyses to inform a training plan which utilises both internal and external education resources.

Provide governance in relation to mandatory and speciality specific education and training and preceptorship.

Lead on the development, delivery and evaluation of multi‑professional learning programmes.

Ensure the delivery of local induction for new staff.

Provide competency‑based clinical skills assessment and feedback.

Support career development through the provision of career conversations.

Provide coaching / guidance to less experienced staff.

Identify potential continued professional development (CPD) opportunities and support individuals and teams to access to these.

Teach/present to multi‑professional groups.

Develop and maintain a training database.

Produce a range of reports.

Promote a positive culture to support psychological safety for all staff and learners.

Provide leadership and supervision for less experienced members of the team.

Disclosure and Barring Service: This post is subject to the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act (Exceptions Order) 1975 and as such it will be necessary for a submission for Disclosure to be made to the Disclosure and Barring Service (formerly known as CRB) to check for any previous criminal convictions. The cost of the DBS must be met by the successful candidate(s) through salary deduction. DBS charges are as follows, if applicable to the post:

* Standard Check: £21.50 + Administration cost of £6.50 = £28.00, deducted from salary over following 4 months or one off payment.
* Enhanced Check: £49.50 + administration cost of £6.50 = £56.00, deducted from salary over following 4 months or one off payment.

Person Specification


Qualifications

* Current professional registration with NMC
* Educated to degree level in relevant subject area
* Recognised teaching qualification /or willing to undertake level 7 education module
* Coaching or mentoring qualification or completion of practice educator preparation programme
* Specialist post registration certificate in clinical speciality or equivalent experience
* Leadership module/qualification
* Evidence of Masters level study


Knowledge and Experience

* Extensive clinical experience
* Well‑developed leadership skills
* Develop and maintain communication with people about difficult matters and/or in difficult situations
* Monitoring and setting standards
* Experience of teaching individuals and groups in a variety of settings
* Experience of assessing learners
* Knowledge of career pathways and practice development initiatives relevant to the health & social care sector
* Knowledge of the impact of culture and psychological safety on patient safety and learning.
* Experience of working within a clinical environment across a range of different settings
* Experience of providing constructive feedback to support learning and development
* Knowledge of professional requirements related to supporting learners in practice e.g. from NMC and HCPC or other professional bodies
* Evidence of developing training packages (online and/or face to face)
* Experience of supporting learners and providing guidance to staff and managers regarding learning
* Experience of working with groups and individuals from all backgrounds, across all disciplines in a variety of roles and settings
* Provision of clinical supervision
* Experience of designing, delivering and evaluating learning programmes for diverse staff groups
* Experience of contributing to the development of Trust policies
