Axcis Education are seeking a qualified HLTA with either a level 4 Teaching Assistant certification, or a higher-level teaching assistant certification, or someone who has been a HLTA before and can take on the responsibilities needed. You will mainly be working with secondary students leading small group catch up or 1-1 sessions for pupils who are disengaged, underachieving, or struggling in the classroom. You will work alongside their EHCP to make an achievable and individual education plan. The SEND school, which is situated on the outskirts of Torbay, is a purpose-built school with a primary and secondary division teaching pupils from 4 – 16 years old. All pupils are diagnosed with ASD or have Speech, Communication and Language Needs (SCLN). They have gaps in their education and need support with their communication, speech and social, emotional needs. Class sizes are small from 8 – 10 per class to ensure all students have intensive support and attention from the Teachers and staff. All pupils can be challenging due to their backgrounds, it is important the successful candidate can evaluate a child’s behaviour with their trauma and understand how to build honest relationships so the children will open and accept you as a role-model in their lives. Safeguarding is key as all students are vulnerable in the community, it is essential you know how to report and act upon safeguarding procedures. The school teaches subjects such as English, math, P.E, PSHE, DT, Art, Science, Personal development, enrichment and engagement. Axcis education pay a rate of £110-135 per day, paying weekly, every Friday. The school ideally need a full time HLTA to work Monday – Friday working 8:30 – 3:30 (possibly 4pm).
