Waking Nights Complex Care Assistant (Paediatric) – St Austell
Location: St Austell, Cornwall (PL25 area, Family Home, Community-Based Care)
Pay: £15.23 per hour (Sunday night), £14.70 per hour (Saturday night), £14.70 per hour (Mon-Fri night)
Shifts: Waking Nights | 9:00pm–7:00am | Alternative rota - 3 WN's week one / 2 WN'S week two
Holiday: 28 days paid annual leave
About the Role
We are seeking an experienced Complex Care Assistant / Healthcare Assistant (HCA) / Support Worker / Carer to provide 1:1 overnight care for a young child with complex clinical needs in their family home. Complex Care Training Provided for the right person.
This role is ideal for a carer who already has experience in healthcare or complex care and is looking to build on their skills, work consistent night shifts, and be part of a highly supportive specialist care team. You will receive ongoing clinical training, competency refreshers, and continuous support — you’ll never be expected to work beyond your training or without backup.
Clinical Needs You’ll Support (With Ongoing Training)
The child has complex and evolving needs, including:
* Respiratory support including nightly BiPAP
* Epilepsy and seizure management
* PEG feeding and nutrition
* Medication administration (including nebulisers)
* Oxygen therapy (PRN)
* Airway and respiratory management
Your Responsibilities
* Delivering high-quality, person-centred 1:1 overnight care
* Monitoring respiratory status and responding appropriately
* Safe medication administration
* Managing seizures and providing reassurance
* Supporting comfort, positioning, and personal careMaintaining accurate records and night-time observations
* Creating a calm, safe, and attentive environment
We’re Looking For
* Previous experience as a Care Assistant, HCA, or Support Worker
* Happy to be trained in complex needs
* A calm, compassionate, and professional approach
* Strong communication skills
* A commitment to safeguarding and high-quality care
* A full UK driving licence is preferred
