Offer description

Write a short description of your company, a boilerplate of the business, service or product that you offer. Include your business idea and the target audience. This text is primarily supposed to be descriptive, not selling.

The Opportunity

Southend-on-Sea is a city at the forefront of the Thames Gateway’s digital transformation, home to a burgeoning tech sector and a long-standing tradition of academic excellence. We are seeking a high-calibre Computer Science Teacher to join an Ofsted-rated 'Outstanding' secondary school. In this role, you will work within a center of technical and academic prestige, preparing students to lead in a world defined by AI, cybersecurity, and sophisticated software engineering.

-----------------------------------

The Department & Standard

* You will join an elite Computer Science faculty where "Outstanding" is the baseline, and student outcomes consistently rank in the top percentiles nationally.

* The department operates in state-of-the-art digital labs featuring high-performance hardware and a dedicated server room for networking and cybersecurity simulations.

* As an "Outstanding" setting, we prioritize a research-led curriculum, helping students transition from visual programming to high-level, text-based languages with precision.

* We maintain strong partnerships with Essex-based tech hubs and London-based universities, ensuring the curriculum reflects contemporary industry standards and emerging technologies.

-----------------------------------

Core Responsibilities

1. Exemplary Instruction: Delivering high-challenge Computer Science lessons across Key Stage 3 and Key Stage 4 (GCSE), ensuring students master computational thinking and Boolean logic.

2. Programming Mastery: Leading students in the development of robust code using high-level languages (primarily Python), fostering a culture of efficient debugging and algorithmic optimization.

3. Curriculum Innovation: Contributing to a "future-proof" curriculum that incorporates themes such as machine learning, data ethics, and the environmental impact of large-scale data centres.

4. Data-Driven Success: Utilizing the school’s sophisticated assessment framework to provide pinpoint feedback, ensuring students in all cohorts make exceptional progress toward top-tier grades.

5. STEM Leadership: Coordinating cross-curricular projects with Maths and Physics, highlighting the role of computation in solving complex scientific and mathematical problems.

-----------------------------------

The Successful Candidate We are looking for an ambitious educator with a relentless drive for technical excellence. Requirements include:

* Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) and a degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a closely related field.

* Proven Track Record: Evidence of delivering high-quality outcomes in a secondary setting, with a deep understanding of the GCSE assessment objectives.

* Technical Authority: Proficiency in at least one major programming language and a firm grasp of network architecture, protocols, and database management.

* Visionary Thinking: The ability to inspire students with the potential of technology to solve global challenges, from digital security to sustainable systems.

-----------------------------------

Why Join Us?

* The chance to work in an "Outstanding" environment where student behaviour is exemplary and the digital facilities are among the best in the region.

* Unrivalled professional development pathways, including opportunities for middle leadership and specialized training in cybersecurity or AI pedagogy.

* The opportunity to work in Southend-on-Sea—a vibrant coastal city offering a high quality of life, iconic landmarks, and excellent rail links to London’s tech city.

* A prestigious professional community that values innovation, intellectual rigor, and the pursuit of technical mastery.
