The role: Fabric Technician
The purpose of our Engineering Technician (Fabric) is to support the Supervisor by providing reactive and pre-planned maintenance services to building fabric and specific engineering services at various sites, following laid-down procedures and safe working practices.
Key responsibilities include:
1. Delivering the physical workplace experience across one or multiple customer locations.
2. Maintaining high standards of HSE, ensuring a secure workplace, controlling costs, driving service improvement activities, and enhancing customer satisfaction.
3. Building and maintaining effective relationships within the customer organisation.
4. Ensuring compliance with all processes, procedures, statutory requirements, engineering standards, and health & safety systems.
5. Providing planned and reactive maintenance, including general building fabric and plumbing tasks, as identified on the fabric competency matrix.
6. Supporting projects and refit initiatives with the Projects & Construction team and Facilities Services Manager.
7. Completing risk assessments and documentation prior to work and reporting risks, losses, or defects.
8. Maintaining Site Activity Log Books accurately and timely.
9. Participating in an Emergency Call Out Service as per the Out of Hours Rota.
10. Supporting the development of colleagues, including Technicians and apprentices.
11. Undertaking the Control of Works Authorised Person (AP) role and supporting other APs and CPs.
12. Understanding environmental responsibilities and supporting the business in achieving environmental objectives.
Person Specification:
* Competence in building fabric tasks such as plastering, joinery, glazing, plumbing, and decorating.
* Ability to manage small teams for fabric projects.
* Knowledge of relevant HSE requirements and their application.
* Diligence, attention to quality, and a customer-focused approach.
* Ability to challenge established practices constructively.
* Proven experience in a building trade or fabric role.
* Knowledge of health, safety, and environmental requirements, including manual handling, legionella, PASMA, IPAF, asbestos awareness, and roof work.
Desirable qualifications include a Level 3 or equivalent building fabric qualification, a full UK driving license, and relevant certifications.
