Join the Environment Agency as a Technical Advisor within the Monitoring Data & Systems (MDS) Team, where you will manage and support key environmental monitoring systems and datasets.
Job Description
The MDS Team ensures the integrity of Water Quality, Fish, Biology, Ecology, and Water Quantity monitoring systems. As a Technical Advisor, you will work on Water Quality systems and support other monitoring systems as required.
Responsibilities
* Set up and manage users across internal and external platforms.
* Support users and resolve issues, particularly during the transition to the new My Environment application.
* Update, improve, and maintain datasets.
* Respond to internal and external data requests.
* Assist with system improvement and upgrade projects.
Qualifications
* Experience working with large complex datasets.
* Willingness to develop and apply new technical skills across monitoring data and systems.
* Motivated, organised, friendly, proactive, and detail–oriented.
* Excellent written and verbal communication; ability to convey complex technical information to diverse audiences.
* Strong customer‑service orientation and ability to build relationships.
* Desirable: experience with environmental monitoring data systems, PowerBI, Access, Excel, Python, SharePoint Online, R, and a working knowledge of water‑quality monitoring.
Training & Incident Response
All team members undertake mandatory training and participate in incident response duties when required. An incident response role is essential within the Environment Agency.

Location & Working Arrangements
Work is flexible with a base required at one of our UK offices and hybrid home/office arrangements. Some travel is expected for meetings.
