Chelmsford City Council are looking for a proactive and dedicated individual to join our Facilities Management Team as a Civic Porter. In this important role, the post holder will help keep the Civic Centre running smoothly by carrying out a range of tasks. These include:
* receiving and sorting post
* helping with minor maintenance
* setting up furniture in rooms
* keeping outdoor areas clean
* and helping ensure the building and our users stays safe and secure.
This position will be worked on a three week shift rota covering the hours between 7:00 a.m. and 9:00 p.m., Monday to Friday and will work an average of 37 hours per week.
We're looking for someone who has some experience with basic maintenance and is comfortable using a computer for simple tasks. The successful applicant will be well-organised and follow safe working practices.
This role is based mostly at the Civic Centre Offices in Chelmsford, but it may be required to travel to sites within the district.
Please be aware that porters may be required to be 'on call' outside of the normal hours of service, on a rota basis to cover overnight and weekend call outs. The post holder should be able to attend the Civic Centre site within 30 minutes.
