Job Summary
We’re seeking a Senior operational leadership role within Hywel Dda University Health Board, reporting directly to the Clinical Care Group Service Director. The Service Group General Manager – Carmarthenshire System will shape and deliver a strategic and operational model of fully integrated, aligned services across the service group. This pivotal role balances multiple priorities—enhancing patient quality, safety, experience and access—while ensuring value for money and making the best use of available resources.
Responsibilities
* Lead long‑term planning for services, accountable for budget management and monitoring.
* Manage and inspire staff, driving performance and contributing to national and local priorities.
* Deliver projects, manage scope and meet agreed objectives on quality, cost and time.
* Represent the service group in strategic discussions, aligning with Hywel Dda Health Board’s overall strategic plans.
* Promote bilingualism, supporting staff to communicate in Welsh with patients and professionals.
Qualifications and Experience
* Higher degree at Master’s level or equivalent senior management experience.
* In‑depth knowledge of strategic healthcare agenda relating to service delivery.
* Evidence of continuous management and personal development.
* Significant financial management experience, delivering budgets to target.
* Experience of delivering projects and managing scope to achieve agreed objectives.
Desirable
* Current knowledge of best practice gained through personal research.
* Sound knowledge of performance management processes.
* Evidence of delivering service change and improvement using recognised quality improvement methodology.
* Previous experience of working in operational management roles in the NHS.
* Welsh Speaker (Level 1).
Language Skills
Welsh speaker (Level 1) desirable; support is available for staff to meet minimal Welsh language requirements.
