Who We’re Looking For

Are you passionate about Vehicles and how they work? Interested in the latest Electric Vehicles or Heavy Goods Vehicles?

If so then we want to hear from you. Our ideal candidate will be able to demonstrate skills in logic and problem solving, someone who pays attention to detail and is keen to gain experience and qualifications as a Vehicle Technician.

We have an exciting opportunity to join the RCT Fleet Services team as a Apprentice - Vehicle Technician. Based at our fully equiped workshop in Treforest Industrial Estate, we are looking for reliable, enthusiastic, hardworking next generation of Vehicle Technicians to work on our diverse fleet of vehicles from small vans to Refuse Collection Vehicles.


Role and Responsibilities

* Reporting to the Workshop chargehand you will be expected to assist Vehicle Technicans and learn and perfect skills for all aspects of vehicle repair and maintenance including diagnostics.
* You will perform a key role within RCT to keep our vehicles on the move.


Apprenticeship Details

This apprenticeship is a 2 year initial term plus an additional 2 years with year 3 seeing a pay increase and allowing you to complete level 3. Year 4 will benefit from full Technicians rate in your improver year.


What Will You Study?

All Apprentices will be supported to complete a Level 3 qualification in Repair and Service of Heavy Vehicles, via a College.


Pay and Contract

This is a fixed term post for a two-year period, starting in September 2026.

You will be paid National Minimum Wage dependent on age:

* 21 & over £12.71
* 18 - 20 £10.85
* Under 18 £8.00

Each competency response must be limited to a maximum of 200 words. Any response exceeding this limit may result in the application not being reviewed or shortlisted.

Important Eligibility Information

Due to the Apprenticeship entry criteria, we are unable to accept applications from anyone who has already achieved a similar qualification at Level 3 or above in the subject area of the apprenticeship they are applying for.

For Example

If you hold a degree in Civil Engineering, you would not be eligible to apply for a Civil Engineering apprenticeship. However, you would still be welcome to apply for any other apprenticeship pathway.

Applications that do not meet the eligibility criteria will not be considered.
