Overview
Sandwell Metropolitan Borough Council, Sandwell Adult and Family Learning Service has an exciting opportunity for 2 full‑time specialist tutors who have experience teaching in one or more of the following subjects: Employability, English, Digital, ESOL and Well‑being.
Responsibilities
You will be responsible for delivering high‑quality teaching across multiple subject areas and supporting learners who have struggled to obtain employment for a long period. The posts require inspiring tutors with extensive knowledge of the subjects listed above and who can create and run engaging programmes for adults aged 19 and over.
Key duties include:
* Designing and delivering bespoke programmes that develop digital skills and other subject knowledge.
* Planning multiple courses that start and overlap throughout the year while maintaining organisation and multitasking abilities.
* Co‑ordinating with multiple agencies to secure the best outcomes for learners.
* Providing one‑to‑one catch‑ups, recording progress and recruiting new learners.
* Working evenings and Saturdays as required, including participation in the national Family Learning Festival.
* Collaborating with other curriculum areas such as English and Maths, and supporting tailored learning programmes across a wide range of subjects.
Effective communication, enthusiasm and commitment to outstanding teaching and assessment will be essential.
Qualifications
* Level 4 Qualification in the Teaching of Adults.
* Level 3 Subject Specialism – a variety of subjects considered.
* Level 2 English and Maths – minimum.
* National Digital Qualification Minimum Level 3 (or equivalent).
* National Numeracy Qualification Minimum Level 2 (or equivalent).
* National English Qualification Minimum Level 2 (or equivalent).
* Hold a Level 4+ teaching qualification (DTLLS / CertEd / PGCE).
* Proven record of at least 2 years delivering courses to adults 19 years and over in both skills qualifications and tailored learning.

Sandwell Adult and Family Learning Service has 3 main learning centres across Sandwell. You will be predominantly based at our Hateley Heath office but travel between centres will be required, and travelling expenses can be claimed according to the SMBC approved mileage scheme.
