Geoffrey Field Junior School is a thriving and dynamic school. We are looking for a new external governor to join our friendly and committed governing body and, specifically, the Curriculum and Outcomes working group.
Our governors come from a range of different backgrounds, skills and experience but all share a common interest of wanting the best possible education for the children in our school.
The Governing Board provides strategic leadership, robust accountability, oversight, and assurance for the educational and financial performance of the school.
Its core functions are to ensure that:
* the vision, ethos and strategic direction of the school are clearly defined,
* the headteacher performs their responsibilities for the educational performance of the school, and
* the sound, proper and effective use of the school’s financial resources.
What will you do?
* Attend meetings of the Full Governing Board six times an academic year (three times face to face (2 hours) and three times online (1 hour)
* Take on a link responsibility for areas covered by our Curriculum and Outcomes Group (Examples include: Attainment outcomes, curriculum, teaching and learning, inclusion). The link responsibility will reflect your interest and/or skills and experience. This involves visiting the school to review the link area with the relevant members of staff approx three times per year and attending the Curriculum and Outcomes approx three times per year (can be virtual).

* Have time to commit to the role
* Have experience in any of the following; strategy development, finance mgmt, buildings mgmt/ Health and Safety.

What we provide
All new Governors receive full, initial induction training to understand the school, the Governing Board and their roles and responsibilities and ongoing specific training or support in their chosen area. There is also a buddy scheme for all new governors to help them onboard effectively.
