Role Overview
Weekend Maintenance Team Leader – reports to the Maintenance & Facilities Manager and leads the maintenance team during shift operations, coordinating with production to meet manufacturing targets for plant availability and preventive maintenance completion.
Key Responsibilities
* Ensure equipment availability is in line with departmental targets for the shift.
* Manage team holidays for Maintenance Technicians on shift in line with company policy and procedure.
* Ensure plant faults and defects are swiftly remedied to keep the facility operating smoothly.
* Engage in root cause analysis of repeat or major breakdowns and provide reports with suggested improvements.
* Engineer out previous issues following a continuous improvement mindset and methodology.
* Facilitate PM schedules and make recommendations for improvement, delegating through the team to ensure compliance KPIs.
* Support internal customers with technical issues, including non‑breakdown incidents.
* Comply with all corporate practice, procedures and policies related to Occupational Safety and Health administration rules (OSHA) during maintenance processes.
* Attend training when required and adhere to CCUK and Magna standards.
* Apply 5S methodology in the work area and wider factory.
* Drive through departmental and company goals/objectives.
* Promote and set a positive example in a manner that reflects Magna Employees Charter, Corporate Constitution, and Divisions Mission, Vision, Objectives, Goals and Values.
* Co‑coach, mentor and undertake annual appraisals of team members.
* Support management with ad‑hoc projects as required.
* Plan and organise work shifts for the timely completion of all maintenance activities.
* Lead a team and delegate work functions to them.
* Promote the company’s HSE policies across the department and plant and adhere to all Health and Safety environmental requirements.
* Organise job training activities for all team members.
Essential Experience
* Previous experience in a maintenance function.
* Apprentice experience in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering.
* Willingness to multi‑skill.
* Ability to delegate to skilled workers.
* Report writing skills.
* Experience in fault finding from hydraulic & pneumatic schematics.
* Good Microsoft package skills, especially Word and Excel.
* Ability to communicate technical issues and conduct start‑of‑shift briefs.
* 5S experience.
Desirable Experience
* Qualification in both electrical and mechanical disciplines.
* Educated to HNC/HND in a related discipline.
* Experience within the castings sector.
* Health and Safety accreditation.
* Experience of Tier1 automotive supply.
* Previous experience leading a technical team.
