Energy transmission and distribution (T&D) are the backbone of modern society—powering homes, industries, and economies across the UK and around the world. You will contribute to landmark T&D, hydrogen, and CCUS initiatives and collaborate with a diverse team to shape the future of energy infrastructure. This role focuses on navigating the evolving environmental consenting landscape and delivering planning and environmental assessment inputs for energy infrastructure projects.
What You Will Do
* Play a key role in growing our energy T&D sector offer, working with sector leads and client account managers to drive thought leadership and win new business.
* Provide environmental advice and support to clients, project managers and colleagues.
* Work with environmental specialists, clients and engineering teams to promote sustainable design and environmental enhancement.
* Manage the delivery of environmental inputs into energy T&D projects including planning applications, EA/EIA, route optioneering, site selection, stakeholder engagement, and support for DCO examinations and planning inquiries.
* Oversee project delivery with attention to technical quality, budget and health and safety.
* Build relationships with clients and identify opportunities for resourcing, programming, strategy development and project delivery.
* Support business development activities, including proposals and strategic bid work.
* Support the development of innovative techniques (e.g., Digital EIA, Technical Excellence, Future Ready EIA).
* Upskill junior colleagues and promote an inclusive workplace aligned with health, safety and wellbeing values.
What We Will Be Looking For You To Demonstrate…
* A relevant environmental degree-level qualification in EIA or similar.
* Progress towards Practitioner or Chartered Environmental Status and Full membership of ISEP (ISEMA) or equivalent with a relevant professional body.
* Experience of undertaking Environmental Assessment for energy T&D schemes with limited supervision within multi-disciplinary teams and under UK planning regimes (e.g., Electricity Act, Town & Country Planning Act, Planning Act 2008).
* Familiarity with consenting processes for energy and electricity T&D projects, including HRA and Environmental Permit applications.
* Ability to coordinate tasks to ensure timely deliverables and reviews.
* Experience building strong client and stakeholder relationships.
* Ability to lead and contribute to meetings with technical teams and external clients.
* Experience coordinating environmental surveys for EA/EIA with health and safety considerations.
* Proven track record delivering projects on time and within budget, following business procedures.
* Excellent written and verbal communication, strong report writing and attention to quality assurance.
* Sound knowledge of relevant environmental and planning legislation.
