Job overview

An exciting opportunity has arisen to join the Clinical Assessment Service (CAS) management team in the Emergency Operations Centre (EOC) at Norwich or Chelmsford.

This senior clinical role in CAS is responsible for professional, safe and effective clinical supervision of service delivery. You will directly manage a team of clinicians based within and at the two supporting regional CAS teams and be responsible for supervising and managing the CAS. You will provide clinical expertise, by providing assessment, advice and information according to clinical protocols to all CAS and emergency Operation Centre (EOC) staff. The post holder will need to utilise professional judgment, critical thinking and refer to other provider agencies and clinicians as appropriate.

You will have a minimum of 3 years post-graduation experience and currently working as a Health Care Professional, registered with either the HCPC or NMC.

All appointments will be subject to currently having a clean disciplinary record.

Main duties of the job

The post holder will work with colleagues within EOC to ensure that, at the point of contact with the Ambulance Service, patients receive care and advice relevant to their needs. This will be achieved by the timely navigation of incidents for remote clinical assessment, working alongside Dispatch to ensure appropriate utilisation of alternative and specialist responders and, where appropriate, ambulance response.

Working within agreed policies, Emergency Standard Operating Procedures (ESOPs), guidelines and utilising decision-support tools, where necessary, you will be focused on managing clinical demand within your area, supporting the needs of individual patients with the need to ensure an effective response across the geographical area. This may at times require sound clinical decision making to prioritise the use of resources at times of high demand, and managing risk in a way that maximises patient and staff safety.

The CN will provide health care advice supported by clinical assessment software to facilitate clinical validation and onward referral to other professionals, as appropriate, to ensure the most appropriate outcome for the patient.

Working for our organisation

You'll have the opportunity to work in one of the most diverse regions in the country, with the vibrant capital city just a stone's throw away and the invigorating North Sea coast to the east.
At EEAST we bring together all our skills to provide 24 hour, 365 days a year urgent care to those in need of emergency and non-emergency medical treatment and transport in Bedfordshire, Hertfordshire, Essex, Norfolk, Suffolk and Cambridgeshire.

We aim to represent and value the diversity of our local communities through our workforce and service provision.
