Description
We are looking for a Finance Business Accountant to provide 9 months temporary cover during a period of structural change and process improvement. This role will support budget owners with budget management, forecasting, monitoring, reporting, and business partnering, ensuring senior leaders have access to accurate and timely financial data.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Partner with budget owners to deliver effective budget management, forecasting, and monitoring.
2. Provide robust and reliable financial data to the Senior Business Accountant, Head of Finance, and CFO.
3. Support the month-end process, including journals, reporting, and meeting tight deadlines.
4. Collaborate with HR colleagues to ensure accuracy of staff cost forecasting.
5. Analyse and interpret large data sets to produce modelling, scenario analysis, and reports.
6. Establish strong working relationships with stakeholders, providing business advice and challenge where appropriate.
7. Communicate financial information clearly to both finance and non-finance staff.
8. Contribute to financial process improvements across the Finance Office.
Essential Skills & Experience:
9. CCAB/ ACCA qualified Management Accountant.
10. Strong knowledge and experience of budget management processes (staff budgeting, forecasting, phasing, contingency).
11. Advanced Excel skills – large datasets, pivot tables, modelling, scenario analysis.
12. Experience working collaboratively with HR teams to ensure staff cost accuracy.
13. Proven track record in building relationships with senior stakeholders and budget holders.
14. Strong communication skills – able to explain financial information clearly and handle challenging conversations.
15. Experience delivering high-quality reports and analysis under tight deadlines.
16. Proactive, solution-focused approach with strong problem-solving skills.
Desirable:
17. Understanding of payroll cost elements to support forecasting and variance analysis.
