Job Overview
We’re looking for a hands‑on Shift Skills Development Manager to lead and develop a team of 12–18 Manufacturing Operatives. In this role, you’ll spend around 60% of your time providing on‑the‑job skills training, ensuring our people are equipped to meet current and future manufacturing requirements. This is a fantastic opportunity for a proactive leader who is passionate about coaching, continuous improvement, and building high‑performing teams.
Key Responsibilities
* Lead, mentor and develop Manufacturing Operatives, Production Technicians and Quality Technicians to achieve production targets.
* Maintain a safe working environment, ensuring full compliance with all H&S procedures and PPE requirements.
* Assess training needs and competency levels across the shift, identifying skill gaps and development priorities.
* Create and deliver tailored training plans to upskill team members.
* Ensure full adherence to all company policies, procedures and operational standards.
* Maintain accurate and up‑to‑date operational information within the Factory Master system.
* Work collaboratively with other Shift Skills Development Managers, ensuring clear and comprehensive handovers to maintain consistent production across shifts.
* Provide timely and accurate reports on team activities and operational performance.
Skills & Experience
* Previous experience within a manufacturing environment (essential).
* Proven leadership experience, with the ability to manage, coach and develop a team.
* Strong problem‑solving and decision‑making abilities.
* Good numeracy, literacy and IT skills (including spreadsheets and word processing).
* A positive “can‑do” attitude with strong time‑management skills.
* Proactive, adaptable, and comfortable driving continuous improvement in a changing environment.
