Minimum 1+ years special education experience required.
A full-time special education teaching opportunity is available for an experienced educator to lead a high school self-contained adapted classroom serving students in grades 9-12. This onsite position offers a contract for the full school year and requires 35-40 hours per week in Arlington, VA.
Key responsibilities include:
* Developing and implementing individualized education programs (IEPs) tailored to each student's unique needs
* Delivering specialized instruction to support academic, social, and behavioral growth
* Collaborating with multidisciplinary teams including counselors, therapists, and parents to ensure comprehensive support
* Maintaining accurate records, monitoring student progress, and adjusting strategies as necessary
* Creating a safe, inclusive, and engaging classroom environment that fosters student development
Preferred qualifications and experience:
* Valid special education teaching certification
* Experience working in a self-contained high school setting with adapted curriculum
* Ability to manage classrooms of students with diverse learning needs and disabilities
* Strong communication and teamwork skills to collaborate effectively with staff and families
* Dedication to fostering student independence and social skills alongside academics
