We are seeking a proactive and reliable Facilities Supervisor to oversee site operations across two secondary schools in Sheffield. This is a hands-on role for someone who is not afraid to get involved in day-to-day maintenance tasks, while also confidently supervising site staff, contractors, and delegating work effectively.
The successful candidate will play a key role in ensuring both school sites are safe,pliant, well-maintained, and fully operational to support teaching and learning.
Your new role
This interim Facilities Supervisor job will have the following responsibilities:
1. Supervise and coordinate facilities and site staff across both schools.
2. Carry out and oversee planned and reactive maintenance tasks
3. Ensure statutory andpliance checks arepleted and recorded, including (but not limited to):Health & Safety inspectionsFire safety checksWater hygiene and asbestos awareness
4. Act as a keyholder and respond to site issues as required
5. Manage contractors on site and ensure work ispleted safely and to standard
6. Delegate tasks effectively and monitor workloads
7. Maintain accurate records of maintenance,pliance, and inspections
8. Support school events, lettings, and occasional out-of-hours activities
9. Promote a strong health and safety culture across both sites
What you'll need to succeed
We are looking for someone who:
10. Has experience in facilities, premises, or site supervision (ideally within a school or similar environment)
11. Is practical, hands-on, and confident in carrying out maintenance tasks.
12. Has a good understanding ofpliance, health & safety, and safeguarding requirements
13. Can lead, supervise, and motivate site staff
14. Is organised, reliable, and able to manage priorities across two sites.
15. Has goodmunication skills and can work positively with staff, students, and contractors
This job is a temporary position in the first instance. We will need to be able to obtain references to cover the last 2 years as a minimum, and you will need to be willing to undergo a DBS check if you don't already have a DBS on the update service. You will be required to hold 5 or more GCSEs, inclusive of Maths and English for this role at grade 4 or above.
