Apply Now About the role Balfour Beatty has another wonderful opportunity for a Technical Change Manager to join our amazing Major Projects team to work at our iconic Old Oak Common development in London. HS2s new c. 1 billion Old Oak Common station will become the UKs best-connected rail station once completed. Our Balfour Beatty VINCI SYTRA joint venture will be responsible for the final design, construction and commissioning of the station in Northwest London. Upon completion, the new station will boast six underground platforms and up to eight platforms on the adjacent Great Western Main Line. Old Oak Common will also provide high speed rail services to the Midlands, central London, Scotland and the North, as well as direct services to three major airports. Incorporating passenger and retail facilities, the new station will provide an exceptional customer experience for both passengers and visitors to the station. Construction of the iconic station will support up to 65,000 jobs and 25,000 homes in the local area, helping kick-start one of Britains largest regeneration projects and transforming the former railway and industrial area. A new public park will also be situated to the west of the station, which will act as a green space that welcomes visitors to Old Oak Common and provide a new focal point for the growing community. At peak of construction, the project will employ a direct management team of 280 and a wider workforce of approximately 2,500. As a Technical Change Manager, you will ensure there is no ambiguity in the technical change relative to the design scope baseline and status is understood, the wider project team is kept informed of progress from initial risk escalation, mitigation, options development, decisions made, design update and through to end implementation What you'll be doing Further details of the key responsibilities for this role are as follows: Take ownership of the BBVS Technical Change Procedure Complete development and maintain the technical change tracker, including status of HS2 Technical Authority Communications (TACs). Publish and distribute the project Technical Change Register every 3 months, or at agreed frequencies. Review the lead design consultants programme and narrative for completeness against planned design changes. Complete development and champion the project register for design scope and status for implementation, coordinate with the Technical Assurance workstream for the requirements and standards baseline, and with the Interface Manager for the interface baseline Review clients instructions and contract General Communications (GC) relating to technical change Ensure Early Warnings (EW) are raised to the client to capture the risk from emerging technical changes. Participate in EW risk reduction meetings relating to technical change. Identify potential Compensation Events (CEs) and provide technical summaries with input from the wider team Ensure the Design Management Plan, Technical Assurance Plan and Technical Change Procedure is followed for technical change.
