Overview
A wonderful two-day, live-out sole charge nanny position has become available, working with a professional and welcoming family in St Albans, Hertfordshire. This family is looking for a kind, calm and organised nanny who can help care for a happy and active nearly four-year-old little boy. The family is moving from Australia to the UK, so someone who can provide stability and help with this transition is required.
Responsibilities
* Provide a structured daily routine including indoor activities (reading stories, singing, puzzles, imaginative play) and plenty of outdoor time (walks, park visits) to support development and milestones.
* Take him to age-appropriate activities and groups, ensuring happiness and safety at all times.
* Oversee nursery duties such as laundry, maintaining his bedroom and toys, and cooking healthy and nutritious meals for him each day.
* End the day with dinner and bath routines, leaving used rooms tidy and ready for Mum.
* From September (when the boy starts school): during school hours, prepare school lunches/snacks, batch cook simple meals for the week, manage children's laundry and wardrobe, organise toys/books/bedroom spaces, run occasional local errands (groceries, pharmacy, post office), prepare activities for after school (play ideas, outings), and provide light household support as required (dishwasher, vacuuming).
* After school hours: collect from school, support play, relaxation, and emotional regulation, and oversee dinner and bath.
* Drive the child safely in your own car with a clean licence; duty mileage will be paid.
Requirements
* Careful and confident driver with your own car and a clean licence (duty mileage paid).
* Experience with preschool-aged children and reliability in supporting transitions.
* Enhanced DBS (update) and 12-hour Paediatric First Aid certification.
* Minimum two professional referees who are happy for contact; one must be your current or last employer and both are contactable.
* Willingness to perform occasional early starts/late finishes for agreed overtime; hours are 07:00–19:00 on Mondays and Tuesdays (24 hours/week) with potential ad hoc overtime.
Location, Schedule, and Pay
* Location: St Albans, Hertfordshire
* Work Hours: 07.00-19.00 on Monday and Tuesday (24 hours)
* Pay: £22,464 gross per annum, with overtime paid at £18 gross per hour (mutually agreed)
